Frequently Asked Questions

How Should I Prepare For The Trip?

Please bring a couple of layers and a windbreaker to stay warm, as well as a hat and sunscreen, according to the weather conditions. Even when it is hot onshore, please bring a layer or two as the ocean in Maine acts like a natural air conditioner.

Can I Bring Food or Drinks?

We are a licensed bar and offer a selection of beers, wines, and liquor drinks as well as non-alcoholic drinks. This means you CAN NOT bring your own alcohol on our vessel. Feel free to bring food or any non-alcoholic beverages with you.

When Should I Arrive?

To ensure a timely departure, please arrive for check-in 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time. All members of your party must be present at check-in to sign a waiver and receive a boarding pass. Completing the electronic waiver in advance for every member of your party (including infants and children) can expedite the check-in process. Additionally, please consider the parking situation when planning your arrival time. For more information, please refer to the parking information provided.

Where Should I Park?

The Town of Boothbay Harbor has four municipal parking lots, all conveniently located within walking distance of the downtown area’s retail shops, restaurants, boat trips etc.

The Footbridge Parking Lot consists of 66 spaces, three of which are handicapped accessible.

The Howard Street Parking Lot consists of 79 spaces with four spaces for town office business, three handicap-accessible spaces with one located next to the town office to conduct business.

6 metered spaces are available on Howard Street across from library.

The Oak Street Parking Lot consists of 27 parking spaces.

All lots are open 7 days a week from June 1st through Columbus Day.

Parking lot fees are:

  • Meters: $2.00 per hour with all major credit/debit cards accepted as well as US quarters.
  • Parking Lots: (Pay by plate at pay stations) $2.00 per hour with all major credit/debit cards accepted as well as US quarters.

Are There Restrooms Onboard?

Indeed, both of our vessels are fitted with a marine head (which is the nautical term for a bathroom). Please note that you will need to navigate a ladder to access them, as they are located below the deck.

When Does Boarding Begin?

A crew member will open the gate for boarding 15 minutes before departure and lead you to Eastwind. There is a prominent Schooner Eastwind Boarding sign in the Fisherman’s Wharf Inn parking lot, to the right of and behind the Eastwind ticket booth. Eastwind is on the other side of the inn from the parking lot, so you will not see Eastwind at the dock until the crew brings you down. However, if you want to see Eastwind beforehand, you can go to the end of the public dock connected to the Whale Park, or across the footbridge.

Are Cell Phones Allowed?

Please mute or turn off cell phones before we leave the dock. We understand that many people use their cell phones for taking pictures, which is encouraged. We want to create a peaceful and serene escape out on the water for you. The captain and crew are happy to answer questions both during the trip and when the trip is over.

Are Tips Accepted By The Captain or Crew?

As our crew is part of the service industry, we greatly appreciate tips. As you disembark from the boat, one of our crew members will have a tip bag available. Alternatively, if you pay for drinks on the boat with a credit card, you can also tip through the Square system. A tip of 15-20% is considered appropriate.

Are there any COVID-related Restrictions?

Reservations, boarding, and sailing are all done entirely outside in the open air. We try to arrange seating so you sit with people from your own group. If you are unhappy with the arrangement presented, you are welcome to decline to go out on that sail and receive a full refund. You are welcome to wear a mask aboard, but it is not required.

How Can I Leave Any Feedback?

We listen and read every review. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us after your trip with any suggestions. We are always open to feedback on how to make your experience better. We also solicit feedback electronically via text and email for Google Review and Trip Advisor.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

If your tour is canceled due to the Captain’s discretion and/or weather then you will receive a full refund or option to re-book your tour on another date based on availability.

Guests canceling their tour reservations 48 hours or more prior to departure are eligible to receive a full refund or can elect to re-book the tour on another date based on availability.

We are also pleased to now offer Trip Protection! For a small fee, Trip Protection can be added to any booking allowing cancellation up to just 1 hour prior to departure! Trip Protection can be purchased at check-out.

Guests not purchasing Trip Protection and canceling their tour reservations less than 48 hours before departure are not eligible for a refund and will forfeit 100% of their payment unless our cancellation insurance was purchased at the time of booking.

Will We See Wildlife on Our Tour?

As you can imagine, Maine has an abundance of wildlife and while we do not guarantee sightings, we often see seals, porpoises, bald eagles, ospreys, and many other birds of flight.

Do I Need to bring ID?

All guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please bring a valid, government-issued photo ID if you plan on consuming alcohol.
